Corwen
At a Glance
Species: Human Gender: Female Age: Elderly Location: Ashveil — afflicted but holding on Faction/Allegiance: Ashveil village Status: Alive (afflicted — condition slowly worsening)
Appearance
Elderly. Weathered in the way of someone who has spent a long life in a borderlands village — not frail, just worn. The kind of person a place like Ashveil builds over generations. The curse has aged her further. She was still alive the last time Vesper sent word.
Personality
Steady. The kind of person who sees something unsettling — like a young man’s hair going silver overnight and one eye starting to shift — and decides it doesn’t change who he is. She didn’t understand what the hexblood transformation meant. She said it didn’t matter. That’s the thing Vesper carries.
Background
Corwen is an elder and healer figure in Ashveil. She was one of the few people in the village who accepted Vesper Crowe after Maren’s ritual changed him — when others pulled back or whispered, Corwen didn’t flinch. She became the anchor: the face Vesper holds in mind when the road gets hard.
She is now afflicted by the curse Maren Voss laid on Ashveil. She was still alive when Vesper left. Vesper sends word when he can. Every letter without a response tightens something in his chest.
Motivations & Goals
- Survive long enough for Vesper to find the cure
- She may have information about Maren’s time in Ashveil that Vesper doesn’t — she was present, she watched, and she’s had time to remember things
