Elves

Elves are a magical people descended from the Fae, living in the world but never entirely part of it. They dwell in places of ethereal beauty — ancient forests, silvery spires glittering with faerie light. They love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry. With their unearthly grace, elves appear hauntingly beautiful to most other races.

Elves can live well over 700 years. They reach adulthood around age 100, and this longevity grants them a perspective that shorter-lived races simply cannot match. Slow to make friends or enemies — and slower still to forget either.

The Elf Subtypes

Faenari Elf

Old Name: Fae Elf

Character: The most tolerant and adventurous of the elves. They retain the most Fae blood and all of the curiosity, humor, and penchant for adventure that comes with it. Often seen as frivolous by other elf cultures — but their easygoing nature is what has helped them survive and flourish in difficult times.

Appearance: The smallest of the elves. Very pale complexion tinged with blues, greens, or purples; hair colors match skin tones (dark blue, green, purple); eyes also in similar cool tones. Often decorated with archaic tattoos, which are frequently magical in nature. Long, prominent ears.

Homeland: Found throughout Amantia, especially the Green Star Islands and the Siórtharan kingdoms. Many live among other races rather than in pure elf communities.

Languages: Elf, Fae, and Ananthean (Siórtharan). Additional choices from: Aislandtic, Giant, Dwarf, Arcadian, Primordial dialects, Goblin, Orc.

Alignment: Tend toward the gentler aspects of Chaos and Good — freedom, variety, and self-expression.

Sylvalûn Elf

Old Name: Wald Elf / Forest Elf

Character: The most reclusive of the common elves. They live deep in forests, fiercely protective of their woodlands. More martial than Faenari elves; quick and quiet.

Homeland: Forests across the Holy Rose Empire, Lunien (Principality of Faelnyssa), and the wilder reaches of the Rose Subcontinent.

Languages: Elf + regional language. Common in forest kingdoms.

Alignment: Tend toward good and neutrality; deeply protective of nature.

Vanaril Elf

Old Name: Vanir Elf / High Elf

Character: The most magically gifted and formally educated of the elves. Proud, disciplined, and somewhat aloof even by elven standards. They maintain ancient traditions with great care.

Appearance: Slightly taller than other elves (+3” on average); more slender physique; fair to golden complexion; silver, gold, or pale hair; bright eyes.

Homeland: Vanaheim (Kingdom of Elarathir), northern regions with Iljarnskarn human contact.

Languages: Elf + Aislandtic + one additional arcane or cultural language.

Notable Trait: High Magic — know one extra cantrip from the wizard spell list.

Nero Elf

Dark Elves

Character: Elves who have been separated from their surface kin for generations, shaped by darker environments. Not inherently evil, but often mistrusted and deeply independent.

Appearance: Dark grey to obsidian skin; white or silver hair; often red or violet eyes.

Homeland: Underground realms; found in Niflheim and other underdark spaces.

Languages: Elf + Underdark languages.

Notable Traits: Superior Darkvision (120 ft); Sunlight Sensitivity; access to innate spell-like abilities.

Kharunyel Elf

Deep / Shadow Elves

Character: Ancient and secretive. The Kharunyel are elves who have adapted to the deepest, most lightless parts of the world. They interact with the Dual Kingdom of Edrum-Khaelyth and with Durakhald Dwarves in Niflheim.

Homeland: The deep underdark, particularly Niflheim.

Languages: Elf + Dwarf + Undercommon.

Eladrin

The Four Seasons

Character: The Eladrin are elves most strongly tied to the Fae and to the Feywild. Each Eladrin is bound to a season — Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter — and their personality, appearance, and even magical abilities shift subtly with their emotional state and season.

Appearance: Otherworldly beauty; skin, hair, and eyes reflect their season:

  • Spring: Pastel tones, fresh greens, gentle blues; hopeful and gentle.
  • Summer: Warm golds and reds, bronze skin; bold and passionate.
  • Autumn: Rich oranges, browns, and deep golds; reflective and melancholy.
  • Winter: Pale whites, icy blues and silvers; cold, distant, precise.

Homeland: Found near Feywild crossings; the Summer Court and Winter Court (see Religious Orders) have Eladrin connections.

Notable Traits: Fey Step — short-range teleportation usable once per short rest. Emotional resonance — appearance subtly shifts with mood.
